What orthodontic treatments are available at our office?
Our team is pleased to offer three methods for realigning teeth and keeping them in place: traditional metal orthodontia, palatal expanders, and both removable and fixed retainers.
- Traditional metal orthodontia. When you think of braces, traditional metal ones come to mind. They’re the tried-and-true classic of orthodontics. They are more advanced and smaller than their clunky predecessors and incredibly effective at aligning teeth, closing gaps, and fixing bite issues. You can customize your final look with colorful bands, making braces a fashion statement!
- Palatal expanders. If your child has a narrow upper jaw or crowded teeth, a palatal expander might be the right solution. This unique device gently widens the upper jaw, allowing permanent teeth to grow properly while setting the stage for a straighter, healthier smile. It is like giving their smile a solid foundation before braces even appear. Rest assured, our team makes the process smooth and easy, so you and your little one can feel comfortable the entire way.Â
- Removable and fixed retainers. After removing braces, you must maintain the results and prevent any shifting of teeth with time. This is where retainers come in. There are two varieties of retainers: removable and fixed. Removable retainers are fabricated from plastic or acrylic material and fit snugly over the teeth, keeping them in place. They can be easily taken out for eating or brushing your teeth. It is recommended to wear them consistently for the first few months after braces removal, then gradually phase into wearing them at night only. Thin wires are affixed to the back of your teeth to form fixed retainers. They provide constant support and prevent any shifting from occurring.
