Galileos 3D Cone Beam

The latest in three-dimensional diagnostic imaging.

3D digital imaging is a digital X-ray scanner that is mounted on a mechanical arm that rotates around a patient’s head, projecting X-rays in a computer-controlled, cone-shaped beam. In a matter of seconds, all data images needed are collected after one complete pass of the scanner. The detailed images can then be called up on a computer screen in a variety of angles and views, including 2D, 3D, and panorama. This allows us to fully see the relationship between patients’ teeth, bones, nerves, tissues, and airways like never before, making us exceptionally equipped for diagnostic and treatment planning decisions. We believe complete information is a vital component of comprehensive care.
Dr. Mercedes Del valle at Downtown Eugene Dental, our 3D X-ray imaging system, the GALILEOS® also allows us to provide our patients with leading edge diagnostic technology at a lower cost and with less radiation than traditional CT scans. A fast scan time of only 14 seconds minimizes patient radiation exposure while generating precise, high resolution images.

Introducing the GALILEOS® 3D CBCT!

You could say that the GALILEOS® 3D CBCT works like an X-ray, but really it is so much more. As the latest in CT Scan technology, it captures both bone and soft tissue in a higher image quality than ever before. In just a short scan that lasts less than 15 seconds, we can now see an entire 3D model of our patient’s teeth and jaw, as well as the jaw joint and other important structures of the craniofacial region. We use this information in the diagnosis and treatment planning for things such as dental implants, periodontal disease, TMJ, sleep apnea, orthodontic treatment and many others.

Furthermore, since Dr. Mercedes Del Valle also uses CEREC®, we can use the two devices to more accurately plan the placement of dental implants. First, the CEREC® digitally designs what the final restoration will look like, and then the data is used by the GALILEOS® to determine the optimal placement of the implant. Finally, the GALILEOS® creates precise surgical guides that are used during the procedure, which makes for a more comfortable surgery and reduced healing time.

Dr. Del Valle and team at Downtown Eugene Dental are dedicated to maintaining the highest quality in dental care and are happy to invest in technologies like the GALILEOS® 3D cone beam that benefit our patients.

Benefits of a GALILEOS® 3D CBCT scan include:

Patients receive the lowest possible dose of radiation
• Scan takes less than 15 seconds
• Immediate virtual diagnosis and treatment planning in one visit
• Enhanced precision during surgical procedures
• Easier to share information and coordinate treatment plans with both referring doctors and our team
